Free Shipping Day Online

So if you didn't know that tomorrow, December 17th 2010 is Free Shipping Day, you do now. Online shoppers can choose from over 1,000 retailers with a guarantee that your orders will arrive before Christmas. Plenty of retailers are participating like LL Bean, Lands End, Toys R Us, Charlotte Russe, Victoria's Secret, Sony, Go Jane, Lane Bryant, and many more!

For some reason, Amazon and Walmart are not on that list though, but they both have chosen to run alternate promotions instead. Walmart is offering free and 97 cent shipping on selected items, and Amazon is offering free shipping on most orders over $25.

Don't feel like you will miss out forever though, a simple internet search can get you coupons and deals almost anywhere, all year long.

Make the most of free shipping day by checking the clearance and sale sections of each site. If you can combine free shipping with a percentage markdown, you are really saving money. Also, search for additional discount codes because some retailers will allow you to use more than one to maximize your saving!

Make your list ahead of time to avoid the temptation of buying things you think you're saving on.

Read the fine print carefully because only half of these sites are offering free shipping on their entire site. Some of these sites have individual items that offer free shipping. JC Penny is offering free shipping on orders over $25 while Sears is only offering it on orders over $39.
How do you know if your site is offering free shipping? There's a list of participating retailers at FreeShippingDay. You can also look for a banner of some sort at the top of your chosen web site that says "Free Shipping," and also the never fail, checking your cart at the checkout is a sure fire way.

Many Yahoo stores and Ebay sellers are offering free shipping as well but be sure to check the seller's ratings before you agree to a transaction. Did the previous customers have problems? Was this shipping quick? If you don't feel it's definitely a safe order, don't do it.
I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holiday and happy shopping!
